Frankincense Essential Oil is derived from the Boswellia Serrata tree, native to India and part of the Burseraceae family. This oil is steam distilled from gum resin and is known as Olibanum, from the French word for "luxuriant". Among its many uses, Frankincense is popularly used in aromatherapy due to its calming properties, is employed for facial toning, and can be used to prevent wrinkles and stretch marks in cosmetics. Additionally, it has been associated with spiritual healing and is often used as an aid in meditation.
